Race Specific Interpretations

Humans - There is only one monastery producing monks in Lathlenn, the Sarun Mount, east of South Crossing in Lunaris, hidden in the peaks of the eastern Sarun mountains, this secretive monastery has been self sufficient and isolated from the world for 600 years, with monks occasionally venturing out and collecting orphans and the unwanted. Monks that come out of Sarun are often of the Sun Soul discipline. In Shrouded Talgen, each of the main churches (Gieth, Gallow, Gliere) have attached monasteries and through arduous training and self discipline, Monks of the Long Death travel around the land, keeping pilgrims safe and the various creatures that prowl the swamps under control.

Elves - High Elves that have more of a bent towards self discipline and reflection often end up in some of the arenas of quiet contemplation scattered around Taerel and Ruvyn. It's seen as a noble sacrifice to dedicate your life to the pursuit of unattainable perfection. Elven monks are entirely celibate and vegetarian. Elves often end up as Astral Self Monks through this hardcore pursuit of perfection.

Kenku - Studying the way of the Kensei, Kenku monks do not enter traditional monasteries, instead finding a singular mentor and spending several years practicing and learning under them before being sent out into the world to find their own students. These mentors are often sought out by many students and select only one for reasons that cannot be fathomed by anyone other than the mentor themselves, rumours amongst Kenku is that one of their highest regarded masters has even taken on a Tortle to train.

Tortle - Tortle are very well suited to monkhood, and a good portion of their population is indeed monks. There are some monastic enclaves scattered around Shellholme that give themselves to learning the tranquillity of life and the study of harmony. While the majority of the Tortle monks become Mercy Monks or Open Hand, there is a curious number of Drunken Fist Monks amongst the Tortles

Tiefling - The tieflings have brought their own unique brand of Monk to Werlyth, mastering the Way of the Four Elements, the monk class is a mainstay of the Tieflings combat forces. What army they do have is a well trained force and when entering into the military, young Tieflings get the choice of taking either the Wizard, Fighter or Monk path.
